Online and Mobile Security

Committed to protecting your account security

Ways Fulton Bank Protects You

  • Beginning June 19, 2021 when contacting our call center, a security word is required to access account information.
  • Your accounts are protected by 128-bit encryption.
  • Your Mobile Banking session will automatically "time out" after several minutes of inactivity. You will be prompted to re-enter your User ID and Password.
  • Your secure User ID and Password are the same for desktop Online Banking and our Mobile app.
    •  Biometric settings are disabled anytime you change your password
  • Our Mobile Banking app does not store your personal account information on your mobile devices, so your accounts are not exposed if your phone is lost or stolen.
    • Your Mobile device is registered and tied to your banking/Online Banking information on file with us so that no one else can use your credentials to gain access to your accounts - even if you lose your phone
  • Multi-factor authentication provides enhanced security with a six-digit code required when you login from an unknown device

Update Your Mobile Devices

  • Protect your mobile devices. Be sure to keep firewalls, anti-malware, and anti-virus protection up to date.
  • Make sure your operating system and security software are up to date.
  • Don’t jailbreak or root your mobile device to work around limitations set by your carrier or device manufacturer. It will remove protections that defend against mobile threats.

Guard Your Personal Information

  • Secure your phone or tablet by using a strong password or with Digital Locking - whether you trace a pattern or enter a PIN, this extra security measure might be enough to slow down a thief while you report your phone as missing.
  • Take advantage of Touch ID™ (iPhone®) or Fingerprint ID (Android™) to provide an additional layer of security by using biometric authentication.
  • Update your online and mobile banking password periodically for extra security.

Access Your Accounts From A Secure Location

Avoid using a public WiFi with a shared password or unsecured wireless access such as networks found in airports, hotels, and restaurants. They pose a security threat because someone can easily intercept or collect any personal information you transmit.

Think Before You Download

  • Utilize anti-malware protection for your phone, tablet, e-reader or any other device that has mobile access to the Internet. The software should have the ability to scan your device, identify and remove malware, and check applications before they are downloaded to your device.
  • Before you download an application (app) on your device, make sure you only use reputable sources like the App Store or Google Play ™. Review the privacy policy, what applications they request permission to access and understand what specific data the app can access. Also, it is a good practice to look at the developer's name, check the reviews and star ratings.

Be On The Alert

Set up SMS or email alerts in Online Banking to notify you of unusually large transactions or unusual activity on your account.

Be Careful When Using QR Codes

QR Codes (Quick Response Code) can direct your mobile device to a malicious site. Malicious QR codes with a permissive reader can put a computer’s contents and user’s privacy at risk. If you receive a QR code via email, be cautious.

If Your Phone Is Lost Or Stolen:

  • Contact the bank to report the case at 1.800.385.8664 or 1.800.FULTON.4
  • Change your Online Banking User ID and Password via My Settings.
    • Changing your password will disable biometric touch and face ID settings to further protect your device from unwarranted access.
  • Call your wireless carrier (or visit their website) to report the incident and suspend your mobile number.
  • Wipe (erase), or lock down your device. Both Apple® and Android™ have tools available to remotely disable your device.

Security & Fraud Protection

Your security is important to us. If you’ve lost your wallet or credit and debit cards, please contact us immediately. We can quickly take steps to reduce the risk of financial loss and identify fraud.

Tips for enhancing your online security

Online fraud occurs when someone poses as a legitimate company to obtain sensitive personal data and illegally conducts transactions on your existing accounts. Often called "phishing" or "spoofing," the most common methods of online fraud are fake email, websites, pop-up windows, or any combination of these.

Monitor Your Accounts Regularly

Alerts are a great way for you to keep updated on account activity and reduce the overall threat of fraud.

Keep Your Information Current

It's always a good idea to make sure you are keeping your PC or laptop's operating system up to date by downloading the appropriate updates.

Utilize anti-virus and/or anti-malware software for additional protection against threats and be sure to apply any updates per the software developer's recommendations.

It is important to keep your email address and mobile phone number up to date within Online Banking. Updates can be made using the "My Setting" page after logging in.

Protect Yourself With Smart Passwords

Don't use the same password for all your online activities.

Change the password to your account(s) as often as possible.

Choose a strong password; one that contains at least eight characters, a mix of capitalized and lowercase letters, and a variety of numbers and/or symbols.

Watch Out For Fake Emails

These emails will ask for personal information. They often contain a generic greeting and may claim that your information has been compromised, your account has been frozen, or ask you to confirm the authenticity of your transactions. Important: We will never send you an email asking you for user names, passwords, and account ID information.

These emails will appear to be from a legitimate source. You should not rely on or the address in the "from" field as this is easily altered.

Be wary of emails that contain prizes or gift certificates. In order to collect the alleged prize or gift, you may be directed to provide your personal information.

Fake emails can link to counterfeit websites. The sites are designed to look "real" but are actually used to collect personal information for illegal use. Fake emails can also contain fraudulent phone numbers. Never call a number featured on an email you suspect is fraudulent.

These emails can also link to real websites and telephone numbers to give the appearance of being legitimate.

What To Do If You Suspect Fraud

If you suspect that you have received a fraudulent email that uses our bank's name, please forward it to us at [email protected].
